Paradigm Network Solutions Inc. has opened up an application hosting business called Apps on Tap. Utilizing the same technology and technicians we have been using at our customer’s facilities, Apps on Tap gives you the same dedication and expertise you are used to when dealing with Paradigm.

Application hosting allows you access to your applications “anywhere anytime” but also gives you a fixed fee for infrastructure, support and licensing. I have included a brief description of each of these areas. An initial “set-up” fee will also apply to transfer your organization over to the Apps on Tap model.

Infrastructure and support

Included in this area are the necessary hardware, software and support to give you a reliable, redundant and high performing technology infrastructure. All necessary file and application servers are included in this section. Firewalls; uninterruptible power supplies and backup drives provide protection for every server in our design. On the software side you benefit from state-of-the-art application server software such as Microsoft Windows 2000 Server, Citrix Metaframe XP and ThinPrint print management system.

Virus protection software and backup/disaster recovery software from Computer Associates is also part of our standard package. Ongoing support on the infrastructure is something that can be scheduled behind the scenes and will have a minimal impact on the Apps on Tap user. Application and hardware updates are needed regularly to keep your components operating efficiently. Due to the individuality of each organization and user we do anticipate variations from the above infrastructure costs. These costs will be dealt with separately under our “Options” section of your monthly invoice.

Licensing

In most cases users will be given a standard desktop with Microsoft Office. Traditionally you would be responsible for purchasing your licenses from Microsoft every two years under Microsoft’s new Software Assurance program. We have an arrangement with Microsoft where we can collect a monthly fee from you for the use of all Microsoft programs. This will save you the hassle and embarrassment of being non-compliant once your licenses run out. For those users that have already purchased licenses, you will need to supply us with a photocopy for our records for this component to not appear on your monthly invoice.

Set-up

Before a company migrates to the Apps on Tap system there is necessary planning, conversion and configuration that needs to take place to bring your data onto our system. This item is a one-time fee that will depend on the amount of time involved.

Options
